F.S.K. plays at the Kampnagel Sommerfest, Hamburg, 27 Aug 2023

F.S.K. at the Kampnagel Sommerfestival in Hamburg. Support TOTAL EMOTIONAL and DIE MASSNAHME.

A new album by F.S.K., the 15th regular album, will be released this summer, once again by Buback in Hamburg. Founded in Munich in 1980, the band still plays in its original line-up with curator Justin Hoffmann, author Thomas Meinecke, visual artist Michaela Melián and photographer Wilfried Petzi, supplemented since 1991 by drummer Carl Oesterhelt, who replaced a drum machine. From the very beginning, F.S.K. saw itself as an art school band: attitude, not virtuosity, plays the central role. F.S.K. makes music about music, both their own pieces and covers. Current trends become material and an unmistakable band sound. Appropriating, overwriting and updating music. There were records with contemporary post-punk, later folk forms (polkas, yodeling) were tried out, then more abstract patterns (post-rock, electronic music), while still producing in band format (even when the music appeared on techno labels). Recently, F.S.K. has been performing infrequently, and the legendary band will now play the rousing closing concert at the summer festival (where they last played in 2017). Speaking of Art School: Total Emotional and Die Maßnahme, both current bands by students of the HFBK Hamburg, will play in the supporting program. And in the afternoon at 17:00, F.S.K. will be guests on the ZEITGEISTER podcast on the Waldbühne in the Festival Avant-Garten.
